The cut of the first style from our premier range is based on a vintage 1920s Mackinaw belonging to our founder that had finally given up the ghost.
The cut of this old wool coat was amazing and once the remains were carefully dismantled and transferred onto card it became obvious that it could be easily converted to accept a zipper. From day one the cut wowed everyone, within the factory the term “Premium” was used to describe the cut but word of this new pattern soon got out on the internet, well before we decided what to do with the new pattern. The shape, while classic late 1920s, has actually benefitted from the addition of a zipper, the collar is quite different from our old collar, it sits more upright to the neck curve, the points are slimmer and the whole neck area has a streamlined look to it. Although the armholes are cut much higher than any previous Aero jacket , the sleeves are very comfortable and the combination of both gives a very flattering line without any batswing effect, the bane of so many leather jackets.
