We are always being asked to make Ladies jackets, especially Café Racers, but most of our female customers end up with one of our slim fitting 1930s jackets as our Men’s Café Racer rarely looks just right.
By popular demand we have designed what we feel is the perfect cut Café Racer for the female torso, the shaping needed for a perfect fit at the bust, waist and back means we couldn’t just trim down the men’s version, if only it was that easy! This jacket is specifically cut with high armholes and slim sleeves to give a flattering and comfortable fit; the vertical seaming is as much an integral part of the fit as it is of the design of the jacket. We’ve fitted two side zip closing hand warmer pockets; we do feel it might be difficult to fit breast pockets due to the position of the front seaming.
We’d advise that the leather choice would be dependent on whether the jacket is to be used as a riding jacket or not, with such a fitted jacket some of the heavier leathers we use will take a bit of breaking in and, for street wear, we’d advise one of less robust hides.
