Another mid 20th Century staple foul weather jacket, longer than the 1930s versions, manufacturers began to take advantage of a more reliable supply of raw materials and an upsurge in the US economy in the 1950s.
The Hercules is a more detailed version of the typical American long half belted jacket. The front of the jacket has a deep cord effect detail starting mid-way up the sleeve and running downwards to the bottom of the coat/jacket.
There are five pockets: two side pockets and two large patch pockets with lovely curved detail on pocket flap, and one breast pocket. The sleeves have a typical American false cuff and benefit from storm cuffs for those who live in a cold climate. The back has a longer “Cossack/Half Belt” type styling with belt and buckle side fastenings and there are three brass underarm eyelets for ventilation.
