Inspired by the overwhelming popularity of our classic 1930’s Half Belt we are proud to introduce a new version of the jacket. As this jacket is based on the earliest examples of this style we’ve recut the patterns to give a slightly slimmer fit, reworked the panel configuration and fitted a slightly smaller collar, while the back retains the classic Half Belt layout.
The brief the design team had was to produce a 1930s lightweight leather jacket that would be equally well suited to a lady as it would be to a gentleman, hence the slimmer cut. As we set out to make a summer jacket, the name “AUGUST” immediately sprung to mind especially once we’d checked the English Dictionary’s definition of the word: ‘inspiring reverence or admiration, of supreme dignity or grandeur, majestic, venerable or eminent.’
We’ve cut this jacket with a high, shallow yoke above a vertical bi-swing upper back while the classic false belt, side cinch adjusters and lower skirt panel are retained. The side pocket angle is less steep we’ve also dropped the breast pocket for a cleaner look. The sleeve has been slimmed down slightly and the cuff has an early style strap and button which can be adjusted for wind resistance and the jacket is lined in a lightweight cotton Tartan.
